11/30/00 Fontainebleau, France
It appears that Dave Graham's send of
Fatman, V13, at Fontainebleau was actually a bad beta send. The
8a.nu website is now reporting,
"Turns out Dave was misinformed: "Ive got some annoying news, when I first
did Fatman, this french guy showed me the two starting holds, I did the problem
from those holds that first day, then a week later this other french guy
told me I started on the wrong holds. My left hand was one hold too far out
the roof. It is a one move difference, but not technically Fatman. This bugs
me because its already over the internet. I had no clue the problem started
on those holds, otherwise I wouldve started lower. So I guess this is kind
of shitty. I started my right hand on the right hold, but the left on the
wrong one. I guess the word needs to go out, but I hope its not too contreversial
or slanderous- I was just misinformed." Nice to hear Dave's honesty about
a small, but crucial difference in this boulder problem. Maybe Dave should
go back and send the problem from a sit start, that way there wouldn't be
any confusion. |

We erroneously attributed the first re-ascent
of Due Diligence to Adam Osterhoff, when in fact Ben Fuller had sent
the problem with the broken hold about a week before Adam. Ben said that
he wanted to keep the name and wasn't sure about the rating. |
11/25/00 Fontainebleau, France
The
8a.nu website is reporting
that Dave Graham had an impressive first day at Cuvier Rampart in Fontainebleau.
Dave flashed Big Boss, V9 (7c), and sent Tristesse, V10 (7c+),
Big Golden, V10 (7c+), Fourmis Rouge, V10 (7c+), and
Fatman, V13 (8b). Dave also sent Partinaire Particulier, V12
(8a+) at Elephant, and flashed Alta, V9 (7c).
8a.nu says Dave's "first day
at Rampart must surely go dwon in history as one of, if not the most, impressive
ever!" Dave does not leave France until December 15th, so stay tuned! |

11/13/00 Switzerland
