  • captainmo So Crashpads... got two old regular sized Misty's that I love... was looking for a single big ass pad. I asked Misty about their Magnum but they said it is only available for lcoal pickup in Boone, NC and would give me a tour of some local boulders and the factory too.. pretty rad, but I'm not headed to Boone anytime soon (though I probably should). So... that left me hunting for other options that seem to be highly rated...
    1. Organics' Big Pad
    2. Voodoo Highball 5000
    3. Flashed Shogun
    4. Flashed Ronin

Anyone here have a not worn out Magnum they want to sell or any good opinions to steer me one way or another? Looking for a big highball pad for solo missions.

    Peace,

    Morgan

captainmo Joe or anyone else who has used Organics - Do you think the 4" is fine for the big pad or 5" better? I'm inclined to go with the bigger and thicker the better for a HB pad.
    Feb 15
JoeM I just checked out a 5 inch organic, and it seems like it would be hard to find a better hb pad.

    Feb 14 · 5
Jonahag Boulder Natural is good? A week ago it had 4" of ice on every flat surface in the park. Not a single climb was doable...
    Feb 14
jasonh Sunday the seepers, ride the lightning etc were seepy but the rest were clean. We climbed upper cliffs and round pond and both were completely dry no ice...except on the trails.

JoeM Never run out of the will to explore...also, it's funny how miker is always part of the problem rather than the solution (even the max solution)...
    Jan 25
M_Sprague Is there more here than what is currently listed in MP? I still haven't been up to Borderland, but would like to check it out before this season ends. It looks pretty good and after all the years, I am kind of bored with the idea of LW.
    Feb 11
JoeM Oh yeah, definitely. Start at the Ames boulder, there are probably a dozen or so problems there. Then head over to the West Side boulder where there are 4 or 5 problems. Then follow the West Side Trail to the French Trail where there are more boulders. There are also a bunch of boulders along the carriage road that goes around the pond. Much more than what is documented.

Jonahag It is Finder's Keeper. I'll see if I can get the Ground Zero and Fallout pics up tonight.

Also... everything on the lost boulder > deception
    Jan 21
M_Sprague The Lost Boulder isn't any where near Stubtown. It is near Escoheag, in Arcadia. Stubtown is named for a road near Rockville that provides access to some, but the boulder clusters are scattered in the general area between Elle Pond and Blue Pond.

  • M_Sprague Hey all, I wanted to let you know that I and another guy, Jeff, have been doing a bunch of cleaning and new routing down at Mt. Tom in southern RI. There is a ton of potential here. The area was more popular in the ‘80s when the Rhody Loadies would climb here, bouldering and top roping, but then it was left fallow mostly until Mike Golub, Dana and friends did a few things. Now that we all have pads, a lot of the short ledges are great for bouldering and highballing. If you are into rescrubbing old routes and putting up new ones, you should check it out. It is the second biggest and best area in RI, after LW and fairly close to the Lost Boulder. I have posted some info up on Mountainproject. I am concentrating on cleaning a bunch of easier stuff first, but there are all grades. Shoot me a message if you would like a tour or more information. With some work this will be a great alternative to LW.

  • jasonh The finds keep on coming in central vt...two more large clusters in the last two weeks all with little or no approach. Nice 14' overhanging boulder with a beautiful har problem up the middle:

We are up to over 150 nice boulders in the Killington area with the potential for over 400 problems...two much to clean!
    Feb 8 · 11
jasonh Roger they are about 5 minutes west on route 4 and a very short approach. I'm talking to the landowner...shouldn't be an issue as they allow mtb already.
    Feb 8
jasonh Found some sweet sandstone boulders in chittendon as well ...more spread out though...huecos, chicken heads pretty cool. A friend found a cave there with a 25 foot roof...I spent three hours last Friday and found tons of rock but did not find the cave.

  • Malnuboy Attention New England Boulderer's!!!

I just found out that a major crashpad company will be out at Lincoln Woods tomorrow giving away three of their top of the line crashpads to the first three people they see shoveling off the boulders for people looking to climb on Sunday. I have it under good authority they will be spending much of their search at the "Try Again" boulder. I would be there myself but I have to pick up my mom from the airport and if I don't get her, all of sudden she will think I dont love her or something. Good luck guys, don't forget your shovels!
